Strap yourself in; we’re going for a ride to explore some of the why’s and the how’s of the natural world.  We will be discovering through many activities including projects and lots of labs! There will be both individual and group projects; focus will be on collaboration and communication in discovery and product creation with fellow, classroom scientists.
7th  Graders:   We will explore the makeup and larger functioning of our planet, earth, including its layers, tectonic plates, volcanoes, and earthquakes.  We will then move into rock and minerals including formation and cycling . We end the year with a closer look at ecosystems and micro-environments including the cycles which support life.

8th Graders: This year, we will be investigating a number of topics including genetics / probability, properties of matter, introductory chemistry, and physics (motion and forces); the theme of energy in application is introduced and mathematically expressed in each of these settings.

About Me

I am an Arizona native and enjoy the landscapes and elevation variety found throughout this state.  This is my second-year teaching with a BA in Secondary Education and Applied Biological Sciences from Arizona State University.  I am gifted certified and enjoy serving this community, guiding the students through the application in several disciplines of science.   I am married with two boys; my family enjoys traveling, hiking, cycling, fishing, and boating in Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Mexico when we’re not working. I live for great adventures and the challenges that come along the way; I am looking forward to the journey this year.
